The following is part of a series of articles to help you Discover Your
Giftedness in Christ. The first portion is just a short introduction to the
longer article. The rest of this article can be read on the internet.
Many spiritual gifts are mentioned throughout the Bible. Seven gifts are
found in Romans 12. Ephesians 4 refers to three more, and 1 Corthians 12
lists thirteen other gifts. To simplify this often challenging study we’re
going to divide spiritual gifts into 4 different lists. The seven gifts
from Romans 12 are refered to as the "motivational gifts." There are two
more gifts from Ephesians 4 along with the previous seven that are referred
to as the "ministry gifts." The remaining gifts from 1 Corinthians 12 are
often classified as the "manifestation gifts." We’re going to divide those,
along with the others into the 16 and 23 spiritual gifts lists.
The following is the first of seven spiritual gifts found in Romans 12. We
will focus on the other spiritual gifts in the next articles.

The following spiritual gifts may or may not fit your theological position.
These gifts are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive. Choose which
gifts you believe are in harmony with your understanding of the Scriptures.
I also strongly encourage you to go to your minister or church leaders and
ask them which gifts your church recognizes are in operation today. Always
remember, spiritual gifts are not intended to divide the body of Christ, but
rather unite believers for the "work of the ministry, for the edifying of
the body, and unity of the faith" (Ephesians 4:12-13).
Administration/Ruling
The gift of administration/ruling is seen in those who either like to
organize or delegate to others. Compelled by a strong sense of duty, they
like to find things for people to do. Unlike the gift of ministry, the gift
of administration/ruling focuses on team participation. Those with this gift
see the big picture and work to keep everyone on track. Not always
personally organized, they prefer delegating tasks. They simply like to
evaluate what needs to be done, then design systems or give responsibilities
to those who can get the job done. They are gifted to help the group forge
forward.
