The Bible is clear concerning our "lostness" and need for salvation. The apostle Paul writes, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23.) If you recognize you need Him, you are ready to receive God's greatest gift, one that is given freely and one that fully displays His unconditional grace and mercy. It is the free gift of eternal life. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" (Eph: 2:8-10)
Simply putting your complete faith in what Christ did at Calvary is what saves you from the wages of your sin, believing that He died on the Cross to pay for all your sins and rose again to prove His unconditional love for you. The gospel of Christ is the "good news" because it sets you free from your lost condition. (I Cor: 15:1-4). On the authority of God's Word, you can now know you have eternal life! The apostle John writes, "And this is the testimony, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the sone of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God (1 John 5:11-13).
God does not stop with the gift of salvation! He has even more in store for you as you seek to know Him personally and walk through this life with Him each day. Once you trust Christ as your Savior, you are doubly blessed, because you also receive spiritual gifts that have the ability to motivate you supernaturally.
